Take a look at some of my work

Here is a selection of my professional and university work, showcasing my skills and experience as a digital developer.

Portable Ticket Scanner

The Portable Admissions app, made for internal use at Gulliver’s Theme Parks & Resorts was developed using HTML and JavaScript. The progressive web app utilises the native camera on modern mobile devices to enhance the ticket scanning process during busy periods without the need of any external hardware. With the ability to scan tickets at a faster rate than traditional systems, this app improved the overall user experience by reducing wait times and increasing efficiency for entering the park.

Virtual Claw

I took the old fashioned arcade claw machine and gave it a 21st century upgrade by building an app that allowed players to remotely control the claw and win prizes from all over the world. No more feeling like a failure just because you can’t grab that stuffed animal from the corner of the machine! Now, players could win prizes from anywhere, even from their own couch. This project won me an award at the University of Huddersfield, which I used to buy more prizes to refill the machine ;).

Self Service POS

‘Munch’ was a virtual restaurant ordering system concept that allowed customers to sit at their table and place their order without needing to queue. The system featured a device built into the table, allowing customers to browse menus, customise their orders, and pay for their meals all from one place. The backend of the system was completely customisable, from logos, colours, and menus, enabling the restaurant to tailor the system to their specific needs and branding. This system helped to improve customer satisfaction and increased efficiency for the restaurant staff, as it allowed customers to order and pay directly from their table without the need for server assistance

Freemans Rebrand

I played a key role in the rebranding of Freemans, the online fashion & homeware retailer, bringing it into the modern world. The rebrand was a comprehensive process that involved updating the company’s visual identity, messaging, and overall brand positioning. The rebrand is now seen in their TV ads, and it has now become a sponsor of the popular talk show ‘Loose Women’. The new brand was well received by customers and industry experts alike, and it helped to position the company as a contemporary brand that is in tune with the latest trends. Overall, the rebranding helped to increase the company’s revenue and improve customer loyalty.

Kaleidoscope Rebrand

I was responsible for rebranding ‘Kaleidoscope’, an online fashion retailer, to bring it up to date with modern clients. I created a sleek and modern design that was in line with current fashion trends and aligned with all marketing communications, including the website, app, and email newsletters. Additionally, I created templates for other designers to use as a guide, to ensure consistency in the brand image. The rebranding was successful and helped the company to attract a new and diverse customer base, increased online sales and overall revenue.

Normanton Carpets

I designed and developed a website for a local business that specialises in selling carpets and furniture. The website was tailored to the needs of the business, providing an easy-to-use interface for the elder generation (their target market). I also integrated features such as a live chat support, which allows customers to quickly get answers to their questions. The website was also optimised for search engines and mobile devices to ensure that it reached a wider audience, this resulted in an increase in sales and improved customer satisfaction.

Train Ride Audio System

I developed an onboard audio system for the Gulliver’s Christmas Train Ride. This system enhanced the user’s experience by allowing the train operator to select a zone and play pre-recorded narration tracks. When the buttons were pressed, the background music would fade to an appropriate level, allowing the guests to clearly hear the story being told. This was a significant improvement over the previous manual system, which relied on a microphone and the operator reading the story 100s of times a day. The new system was developed using a Raspberry Pi and a durable touchscreen.

Mobile E-Ticket App

I developed a mobile e-ticket app for a local theatre, it was user-friendly and economical as the company didn’t need to send physical tickets. The front end was developed using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, while the back end was developed using PHP, MySQL and Cordova. The app allowed customers to purchase and display tickets directly on their mobile device, eliminating the need for physical tickets and making the process more convenient and efficient for both the customers and the theatre.

Scare Maze finder

I designed and developed a Progressive Web App that used an API to find local scare mazes and allowed users to favourite them. The app was optimised for both web and mobile, providing a seamless user experience. It was built using technologies such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS. The PWA helped horror enthusiasts to find and save the best local scare mazes and plan their spooky season accordingly.

Shopping Centre app

In University, as a team, we developed an app for a shopping centre that allowed users to see the shops and find their way around. The app featured an interactive map that showed the layout of the centre, including the locations of all the shops, amenities, and services. Users could search for specific stores, filter results by category, and even get directions to their desired location within the centre. The app also provided information on promotions and events happening in the centre.

Clearview Installations

I designed and developed a website for a window replacement company. The website was designed to be user-friendly and easy to navigate, featuring a clean and modern layout. It provided detailed information on the company’s services, including different types of windows, materials, and pricing. It also had a request a quote form, and a gallery of the company’s previous work. The website was also optimised for search engines, making it easy for potential customers to find the company online.
